Mae’r postiau sy’n ymddangos yn adran Manion o’r Mynydd yn amrywiol eu natur. Fel y mae’r teitl yn awgrymu, mae’r adran yn cynnig lle i archwilio pynciau sy’n ymwneud ag ucheldiroedd Cymru nad ydynt o reidrwydd yn gysylltiedig ag enwau lleoedd.
Posts that appear in the Manion o’r Mynydd section are miscellaneous in nature. The title can be translated loosely as ‘trivia from the mountain’, and the section therefore offers space to explore topics relating to the Welsh uplands that do not necessarily concern place‑names.
Fforest Glud
Mae post heddiw yn dathlu Fforest Glud, gan gyflwyno detholiadau o gywyddau a gyfansoddwyd gan Lewys Glyn Cothi yn y bymthegfed ganrif. Roedd Lewys yn ffigwr blaenllaw ymhlith Beirdd yr Uchelwyr, sef beirdd proffesiynol a noddwyd gan uchelwyr Cymru – yn yr achos hwn Ieuan ap Llywelyn Fychan o Lan Efan (SO 156 611) ym mhlwyf Llanfihangel Nant Melan. Mae’r llinellau hardd a gyflwynir yn cyfleu hoffter amlwg y bardd o’r ucheldir brydferth sy’n do i hen Sir Faesyfed.
Today’s post celebrates the Fforest Glud upland group, presenting extracts from fifteenth‑century cywyddau composed by the masterful Lewys Glyn Cothi. A leading figure among the Beirdd yr Uchelwyr (‘Poets of the Nobility’), Lewys was a professional poet patroned by Welsh nobles – in this case Ieuan ap Llywelyn Fychan of Llan Efan (SO 156 611) in the parish of Llanfihangel Nant Melan. These selected lines, beautiful in their craft and sentiment, convey the bard’s evident fondness for the Fforest Glud upland.
